Case1 ZTE TYPE-1 Modem
Symptoms: a. All lights blinks in the CPE or Dim glow of power LED
b. Ping fails for 192.168.1.1
Solution: a. Replace the 1000 Microfarad capacitor inside the 5Volt power adapter.
The faulty adapter gives only 4Volts when connected CPE.
( Changing the capacitor is not required for adapters manufactured in 2009 )
Year of manufacturing found only on latest adapters.
If no year printed on the 5V adapter then it is old version.
Case2: ZTE TYPE1 Modem & ITI TYPE2 Modem
Symptoms:
Unable to save “Username “ & password
Solution:
Upgrade the CPE firmware
Case3: ZTE TYPE1 Modem
Symptom: ADSL link not stable
Solution:
a. Make sure 5Volt adapter is OK
b. Open the modem setup page , Select CONFIG > ADSL > Enable ADSL port > Select modulation type as Gdmt or “ANNEXURE A”
Case4: ZTE TYP1 Modem
Symptoms:
Unable to browse in PPPOE mode even if the Internet light glows
Solution:
Reconfigure the modem as given below. Note: DSP inside ZTE modems are slightly slow , hence for every operations it may take 30 to 40 secs to complete. Otherwise setup will not be saved.
Procedure to configure the Modem in PPPOE MODE
Switch off the modem
Connnect Ethernet/USB cable only. Do not connect DSL line now
After power on , wait for 45 secs
Now setup the modem in PPPOE mode.
Type 192.168.1.1 in browser , give username & password
Select CONFIG > INTERNET > EDIT the PVC with vpi=0,&vci=35
Follow the wizard to configure
Make sure the following parameters selected:
VPI/VCI=0/35 ,PPPOE, Encap=LLC/SNAP,
NAT eanbled,
Select Obtain IP address automatically,
Default route enabled
Finally Click “APPLY”
Wait for 30 Secs
Switch OFF the modem.
Now connect the DSL line
Switch on the modem again.
Wait for 2 minutes , if INTERNET LED glows , browsing should be ok.
If no internet light , check username , password, and change the DSLAM port
